Title Attending 3rd Regional Forum of WHO Collaborating Centres in the Western Pacific

  From November 21st to 24th, the Korean Red Cross Blood Services (KRCBS) attended the 3rd Regional Forum of WHO Collaborating Centres in the Western Pacific Region held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

  In the third regional forum, 140 collaborating centre from 9 countries, discussed strengthening cooperation and network among WHO Collaborating Centres, sharing the progress made since the previous forums and the WHO¡¯s new ¡°Triple Billion Targets¡± initiatives and maximizing CC contributions.  

  The WHO sets ¡®Health Coverage¡¯, ¡®Health Emergencies¡¯, ¡®Healthier Population¡¯ as strategic priority of the 13th General Programme of Work 2019-2023. In accordance with this new targets, WHO CC, including KRCBS, strive to promote various collaboration and partnership to achieve results at country level.

​  Currently, 192 centres in 10 countries in the Western Pacific regions are active in promoting regional public healthcare. KRCBS has been designated as WHO CC for Blood Transfusion Safety since 2014 and was redesignated until 2022.

  As the WHO Collaborating Centre, the KRCBS carries out to assist in the development of national blood programs through training and mentoring, provide technical support to enhance national blood system, and assist in development of public awareness and donor education materials to accomplish 100% VNRBD (Voluntary Non-Remunerated Blood Donation)
