Drafter Administrator Date 2018-06-08 Hits 3150

On May 17th, 2018, U.S. forces, Korea (USFK) and family members donated blood at Yongsan Garrison. This event was coordinated with KRCBS Nambu Blood Center and 21 soldiers and family members were able to donate blood.

In order to obtain sufficient Rh negative type blood and efficient blood supply of U.S. military hospitals, KRCBS has been negotiating regular blood donation with USFK since March.

The proportion of Rh negative (-) type blood from Korean people is very small (0.3%), whereas, 20% of Americans are Rh negative (-) type.

After signing an agreement with US forces, KRCBS is also planning to collect blood donation from Camp Humphreys and Osan Air Base.

Other foreigners living in Korea are also able to donate blood through Korean Red Cross Blood Services. Please visit our website ¡®Donor Eligibility¡¯ section to find more information.
