Korean Red Cross Blood Services attended 2016 American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) Annual Meeting in Orlando, USA. This year, the main topics of the annual meeting were patient blood management, haemovigilance, and cellular therapies. The meeting covered various parts of blood services such as Zika virus and blood testing, utilization big data to reduce unnecessary blood transfusion.

​After attending blood center, the Korean Red Cross Blood Services visited OneBlood Center in Orlando and Pomona Blood Center (American Red Cross) in Los Angeles. The Korean Red Cross Blood Services has learned about blood services in the USA, compared with our blood services, and discussed any improvement we can apply to our blood services.

This field trip has widened the view and trend of blood services at a global level and learned how other blood services operate. The Korean Red Cross Blood Services will continue to communicate with other blood services and learn from one another to advance our blood services.
